About the studio-where Whispered Porcelain takes shape.

After many years immersed in fashion and design education, I returned to making with a desire to work more directly with materials, drawing and form.

Porcelain became the starting point. I was drawn to its whiteness, delicacy and unpredictability, and the idea of treating each small piece of clay almost as a tiny white sketchbook page. What began as an exploration has gradually developed into Whispered Porcelain, my collection of contemporary porcelain jewellery and wearable objects.

having taken a short course in silversmithing I make each porcelain piece by hand in my Harrogate home studio, and combine it with drawn marks, texture, graphite, lustre and sterling silver detail and findings.

Some pieces are deliberately simple; others evolve through experimentation with form, construction and the relationship between porcelain and metal.

My background in fashion and design still runs through the work, in the attention to proportion, silhouette, detail and how an object changes when it is worn. But the studio also gives me the freedom to experiment, follow an idea and allow each collection to evolve.
