Welcome - I’m Susan Holloway, a maker, educator, and artist exploring how calm, craft, and curiosity can shape a more intentional way of living.
Through Holloway + Dillon, I bring together my lifelong love of making and my background in fashion education - creating porcelain pieces, workshops, and reflective experiences that invite others to slow down, reconnect, and rediscover their creative flow.
Working with porcelain, illustration, and mixed media, I explore ideas of quiet beauty, connection, and the rhythm of the handmade. Each piece is shaped slowly by hand in my Harrogate studio - a tactile expression of stillness and intention.
Before returning to my studio practice, I spent many years in higher education, including serving as Director of Teaching and Learning at the JCA | London Fashion Academy, founded in partnership with Professor Jimmy Choo.
As part of the Academy’s founding team, I helped build a pioneering curriculum that blended creative design with entrepreneurial practice - empowering students to develop their own brands while studying. I continue to work with the Office for Students and various Universities as external assessors and examiner.
Alongside this, I am the author of The Fundamentals of Fashion Management (Bloomsbury, 2012, & 2018) - a guide that bridges creative passion and professional practice, used internationally by students and industry professionals.
My earlier experience running my own fashion business gave me a deep understanding of the realities of creative entrepreneurship - insights that continue to shape how I work, teach, and mentor today.
Now, through Whispered Porcelain and Holloway + Dillon, I continue to explore how art, mindfulness, and purpose come together - creating meaningful work that reflects both craft and calm.
If my work resonates with you - whether you’re drawn to my jewellery, workshops, or collaborations - I’d love to connect..
